History of Our Church
……..Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; but because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-3
When the Lord speaks, He doesn’t always mean right now. It may be for a future day, or for an appointed time. Such was the case when the Lord spoke to Pastor James Williams Jr. following the death of his father in 1998. He told him to start a work and at the time, that work was a weekly bible study in Davis, CA. Pastor Williams named the Bible Study Morning Star and faithfully conducted that bible study, personally renting a room each week in a facility there and continued doing so until the Lord led him to end it. Sometimes others joined him but mostly he fulfilled the assignment alone because that is what God gave him to do. Many times, He will test our willingness and our obedience, not for His sake, but for ours.
He then told him to be faithful at Community Outreach until the appointed time for him to go out and open up a church. That time was in November, 2010.
After the announcement of the events happening at his former church, the Lord spoke and said NOW! In considering names, the group unanimously agreed to the name God had originally given Pastor Williams, Morning Star Christ Holy Sanctified Church. With the support of his family, and others, they began seeking out places. We were considering three different locations; a hotel in West Sacramento, the Lemon Hill Boys and Girls Club, and a unit at a Business Park in Natomas. After ruling out the hotel, we decided on the Boys and Girls Club.
We held our first service there at the Club and the Lord blessed. Pastor of course had his keyboard and a friend of his loaned us his drum set. When one on the members, in helping them unload, set up, and after service reload the drum to return them, the Lord placed it upon his heart to purchase a set of drum for the church.
The cost of using the Club was going to be minimal and of course that sounded great, but the all-knowing God said this was not where he wanted us at that time. The very next day, Eld. Adrian Williams received a call from the business park and was offered a unit at a reasonable cost. Even though it was a lot more than the Club, the Lord said “take it”. So the next Sunday, we held our first service here at the Business Park. Little did we know that a few weeks later the director of the Club decided to no longer rent the Club to churches.
The Lord has added to the fold since that first service, willing and dedicated workers. The vision is yet being fulfilled. The harvest is ripe and God is sending in laborers to do the work of the ministry. During the heart of the pandemic, we decided not to renew our lease with the business park. However, after worshipping at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Natomas for almost two years, the Lord has blessed us to find a new location for our weekly services. We are located at 1824 Tribute Rd, Suite F, Sacramento, CA 95815.
